Prosecutors filed criminal charges this morning against an 18-year-old Pomona man accused of killing a Chino man in a hit-and-run crash last week.

Alfredo Antonio Ramirez was charged with one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter, and an infraction for driving without insurance.

Ramirez was arrested Thursday on suspicion of hitting and killing Richard Bohannan, 42.

Bohannan, a father of two, was struck as he walked to his mailbox in the 11000 block of Pipeline Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. on April 14, according to a California Highway Patrol news release.

Ramirez was released from custody shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, according to online records from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

A warrant was issued for Ramirez's arrest after prosecutors filed charges against him.

One of Bohannan's nieces played a key role in finding the man who allegedly killed her uncle.

Following her uncle's death, the woman drove the streets Wednesday looking for the suspect's vehicle.

She found a 1991 Toyota Celica in Pomona that had damage consistent with the crash, and CHP officers identified a suspect based on the woman's tip.

Ramirez walked into the Chino Police Department Thursday to share information about the incident. He was arrested after being interviewed by CHP officers.
