Gregory Robert Stefan, 28, first stabbed the girl, then stabbed her father when she came to her aid, said Ontario police Detective Jeff Higbee. The attack at Dave and Buster's appeared to be unprovoked, Higbee said.

The two victims, who suffered multiple stab wounds Saturday, were released from local hospitals on Monday, Higbee said.

"My understanding is that they're both going to survive," said Deputy District Attorney Reza Sadeghi, who filed the charges against Stefan this morning.

Stefan, of Ontario, faces a prison sentence of up to 38 years to life if convicted of all charges, Sadeghi said.

Stefan will likely be arraigned Wednesday morning in West Valley Superior Court, Sadeghi said.

He remained jailed today at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to online sheriff's department records.

Higbee and Sadeghi said today that Stefan didn't make a statement to police after his arrest, and authorities are unsure what Stefan's motive was in the alleged attack.
