Ontario man agrees to 5-year sentence in rape case
RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- An Ontario man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl and having an ongoing sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl agreed to a plea bargain this morning that includes more than five years in prison.
Rudy Dalton Beltran, 29, pleaded guilty in West Valley Superior Court to three of the 14 felonies filed against him by prosecutors, said Deputy District Attorney Karen Schmauss.
After serving a five year, four month prison sentence, Beltran will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, Schmauss said.
Beltran is set to be sentenced on July 17, Schmauss said.
Beltran's former girlfriend testified at a preliminary hearing in November that she and Beltran dated for about six months until his arrest in August 2008.
The Ontario girl, who was 16 during the relationship, testified that she and Beltran had sex every other day. Beltran, who was 27 when he met the girl, initially told her he was 22, the girl testified.
The other girl Beltran allegedly victimized lived across the street from the 16-year-old in an Ontario mobile-home park.
The girl, who was 14 during her contact with Beltran, testified in November that Beltran entered her bedroom through an open window under the cover of darkness in the early morning of July 31, 2008.
She testified that she told Beltran to stop when he made sexual advances, but he ignored her demands and raped her.
