Man gets more than five years in prison for sex with underage girls

RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- An Ontario man was sentenced to more than five years in state prison this morning for having an ongoing sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl and raping one of her neighbors, a 14-year-old girl.

Rudy Dalton Beltran, 29, agreed to a plea bargain offered by prosecutors last month that included a prison sentence of five years and four months.

Beltran was accused of carrying on a six-month-long sexual relationship last year with an Ontario girl who was 16 years old at the time of the relationship.

He was also accused of having consensual sex with the girl's 14-year-old neighbor, then later sneaking through a window into the girl's bedroom and raping her.

Both girls testified during a November preliminary hearing in West Valley Superior Court that Beltran lied to them about his age and claimed he was younger than he actually was.

Beltran pleaded guilty to three of 14 felonies filed against him last month.

He will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to prosecutors.

When Beltran learned in August last year that he was wanted by police for his actions, he drove into the San Gabriel Mountains on Mount Baldy Road and threatened to jump off a cliff.

He was talked down from a ledge and arrested following a five-hour standoff.
