A fugitive suspect in a 2002 murder case was extradited from Mexico to San Bernardino County last week, and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, according to online sheriff's department booking records.

Anthony Arteaga arrived in the county at 2 a.m. Friday, and he's being housed at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino in lieu of $1 million bail, booking records show.

Arteaga is accused of shooting and killing Paul Casey, 33, with a shotgun in Rancho Cucamonga in September 2002 following an argument between Casey, Casey's friend, and a group of taggers that included Arteaga, according to prosecutors.

Following the incident, Arteaga fled to Mexico. He was located by federal authorities in 2007 in a Mexican jail, where he was serving time under an assumed name for a gun possession charge. He was extradited after completing his sentence in Mexico.

Arteaga is scheduled to appear in West Valley Superior Court on Tuesday morning. It's unclear from sheriff's records whether his scheduled appearance is for an arraignment hearing or for a hearing of a different nature.
