RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- A man who faced attempted murder charges for an alleged attack on his wife struck a plea bargain with prosecutors this week for 240 days in jail.

Juan Marrafo Cisneros, 32, was offered the plea bargain after his wife changed her story about the Aug. 25 incident, weakening the prosecution's case, said Deputy District Attorney Theodore J. Smith III.

Cisneros, of Ontario, may have faced a seven-year prison sentence if convicted on all the charges filed against him, Smith said. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 10 in West Valley Superior Court.

When Cisneros' wife spoke to police the night of the incident, she told officers that her husband pushed her, punched her in the face, choked her, slammed her head against the floor, and sliced her chin with a piece of broken glass.

In recent statements, Cisneros' wife has told authorities that her husband only pushed and punched her, Smith said.
