POMONA -- The former general manager of a Pomona hotel pleaded no contest Tuesday to charges that he stole about $300,000 from the hotel.

Heinz Juergen Gehner, 68, allegedly used several schemes to embezzle more than $290,000 in money and services from the Shilo Inn Hotel on Temple Avenue, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Gehner pleaded no contest to three counts of grand theft Tuesday in Pomona Superior Court, and is scheduled to return to court Feb. 11 for sentencing, according to the news release.

Gehner faces a prison sentence of up to four years, four months, and will be expected to pay more than $310,000 in restitution to his former employer, according to the news release.

Gehner was charged by the District Attorney's Office on Oct. 13 last year and arrested three days later by Pomona police, according to booking records. He remains jailed without the possibility of bail at Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic.
