Jury deliberates in trial for couple in Lytle Creek death

Jurors will begin their first full day of deliberation Tuesday in the trial for a couple accused of killing a Lytle Creek man almost three years ago.

John Rene Loza, 60, and Jeanne Loza, 49, are on trial in Victorville Superior Court in the death of 54-year-old John Edward Rintalan. Lawyers in the case completed their closing arguments Thursday, and the case was presented to the jury at 2:35 p.m., according to court records.

Rintalan had allowed the couple to live in the guest house on his Lytle Creek property. Rintalan's live-in girlfriend reported him missing in March 2007 and his body was found three weeks later near Highway 2 and Desert Front Road near Wrightwood.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies described John Loza as a member of the Vagos at the time of his arrest in May 2007 in Las Vegas. Jeanne Loza was arrested in Lake Havasu shortly after the victim's body was found.

Prosecutors charged each of the Lozas with one count of murder.
