A Highland man was sentenced Monday to 11 years in state prison in the death of Mary Louise Walker, whose body was found in a San Bernardino motel room in February 2007.

James Allen Tofflemire pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter on Nov. 23 in San Bernardino Superior Court as part of a plea bargain in the case.

Tofflemire, 49, was given credit for 970 days he has already served and 145 days for good conduct for a total of 1,115 days, or more than three years.

Police found the 42-year-old victim's body at the Paradise Motel, on West Fifth Street. She was suffocated and had received blunt force trauma to her head with a money jar.

An autopsy report showed the victim also had cocaine in her system.
