SAN DIEGO - A landlady accused with the 1994 killing of her tenant was arraigned in a San Diego Superior Court today.

Seferina Marquez Ponce, 52, pleaded not guilty to killing 18-year-old Sarah Reyes. San Bernardino Deputy District Attorney John Thomas said Ponce will appear in court again Feb. 1 for a status conference.

Redlands Police arrested Ponce Friday in connection with the Reyes' killing.

Reyes went missing Oct. 4, 1994, from the Ohio Street residence where she rented from Ponce.

Reyes' skeletal remains were discovered Feb. 14, 2000, in the Valley Center area of east San Diego County.

Ponce will be tried in San Diego Superior Court. Thomas has been cross-designated to prosecute the case in San Diego County.
