A Victorville school teacher has been sentenced to three years probation and a year in county jail for having an unlawful sexual relationship with a co-worker's teenaged daughter last year.

Raymond Chow, 29, was sentenced under the terms of a plea bargain reached with prosecutors on Dec. 8 in Victorville Superior Court. Chow pleaded guilty to one felony count of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

The defendant was sentenced to supervised probation and 365 days in county jail before Judge Larry Allen on Jan. 12, according to court records. Chow received credit for 102 days already served.

Sheriff's deputies were called to a Heritage Drive home in October by the parents of the victim who had confronted Chow about the alleged relationship.

Chow met the victim, a 16-year-old girl, through interactions with her mother, according to sheriff's officials. The defendant and the girl's mother both worked at Galileo Academy Elementary School in Victorville, where Chow was employed as an independent studies teacher.

Court records indicate Chow must register as a sex offender, participate in a counseling program and participate in a sex offender treatment program with a therapist.
