REV 17th in state

| | Comments (7)

It was unfathomable before the 2002 season, but the Redlands East Valley football team is now ranked 17th in the state by calhisports.com.

Before Kurt Bruich became coach in '02, the Wildcats were 1-48 on the field. Its only on-field victory was a 21-12 defeat of tiny Arrowhead Christian in 1999.

Bruich's '02 team went 6-4-1 and he's won two Citrus Belt League titles since then. This year's team is 3-0, with impressive victories against then-state-ranked North and Compton Dominguez. The Wildcats have also defeated a solid Colton team.

Dominguez was ranked 18th in the state until Friday night when REV whipped the Dons 44-14, taking advantage of five turnovers.

This week the Wildcats take on unbeaten host Eisenhower (3-0) in the Citrus Belt League opener for both teams.

Does Ike have a chance against the Wildcats, or will it be a REV romp in Rialto?

Yes I agree how teams yo-yo go up and down...REV used to be the laughing stock of the CBL in football and now one of the top in the states...
I know for a fact that Ike will lose, in tennis today...But REV is not deep especially on its line and needs to stay healthy over the next 11 weeks.

REV players and Coach Bruich deserve a lot of credit for turning the program around. He comes from a great coaching family and has shown that he no longer belongs in his fathers shadow. I just hope he will stay in the IE and continue his dominance.

Thanks I.E. ... the dog knows that. But the only video we have at the moment is from colton (of the REV game).

Thanks for that heads-up, RDC. What about the Smudge Pot Game this year ... does Redlands have a chance?

It might not be the best team that RHS has had in awhile, but the Terriers live for the REV-RHS game. Walker and Olmedo will have those guys jacked up for this rivalry, but I think REV will win. Visiting team has won the last few contests, and REV is the visiting team.
