No SAL football games this weekend

There will be no San Andreas League football games this weekend, Colton coach Harold Strauss said today.

The SAL consists of all San Bernardino City Unified schools, except for Colton.

"It was five San Bernardino schools against Colton, so we were at their mercy," Strauss said. "They're closing school all week and not going back until probably Monday. So I guess they figure there's no way they can get ready to play a game because they're also not letting them practice inside."

Strauss was speaking of the SAL city schools. He also said the idea of playing on Monday or Tuesday has also been scrubbed.

Strauss was having his team practice inside, but ended that after the SAL's edict, cancelling this week's games.

Colton was scheduled to play winless Pacific this week and co-SAL leader Arroyo Valley next week.

Rim of the World had already canceled its game Friday night at Sultana.

Also, Redlands East Valley has moved its Citrus Belt League game scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. to La Quinta High School, due to concerns about the air quality.
