Fouch throws, runs for TDs in Husky loss to Stanford; Gerhart injured
My habitual perusal of sfgate.com tipped me off to REV grad Ronnie Fouch playing against Stanford on Saturday after Washington QB Jake Locker was hurt.
Locker broke his thumb in the second quarter and Fouch took his place.
"I saw Jake grab his hand," Fouch told the Seattle Times. "I was just mentally getting prepared and getting my mind ready to go."
Fouch completed a 5-yard TD pass to tie the score at 14, but Stanford managed a 35-28 win at Husky Stadium, its second consecutive win in Seattle after 12 consecutive losses.
Another county product, Norco's Toby Gerhart of Stanford, incurred a concussion on the second series of the game and was sidelined the rest of the way. The Cardinal running back rushed for 14 yards on two carries.
The Times reported that Fouch, a 6-1, 203-pound redshirt freshman QB, will be the Huskies starting QB for the next six games and possibly the rest of the season.
He completed 13 of 27 for 186 yards with one TD against Stanford. He also ran for a 1-yard TD.
By next season there should be three former county QBs on the rosters of Pac-10 teams: Fouch, Richard Brehaut (Los Osos, UCLA) and Josh Nunes (Upland, Stanford). Nunes recently de-committed from Tennessee and committed to Stanford.
