Long Beach Poly now No. 1 in state; REV 19th

| | Comments (11)

Long Beach Poly (3-0) has assumed the top spot in the calhisports.com state football rankings. The Jackrabbits were previously ranked second.

Corona Centennial (3-0) is now second after its 42-7 demolition of Clovis West.

San Jose Bellarmine Prep (3-0) moves up to third after walloping Stockton St. Mary's 35-8.

Concord De La Salle (2-1) has struggled in all three of its games, including a loss to New Jersey Don Bosco Prep, which already had one loss. The Spartans fell to Bosco 23-21. The good news for De La Salle is the easy part of its schedule is ahead.

Redlands East Valley (3-0) checks in at 19th after its 25-6 win over Compton Dominguez.

I'm glad mentone has been ranked 19th. when you play teams like jv. teams like San G. and Dominguez who dresses out less then 30 players you should be ranked 19th in the state. When they play real teams like Miller and the Terriers then the fall will be far.

The one big flaw of most ratings systems that I can see is that a team that schedules a national or even regional power and loses, really gets penalized. Ask any team that has lost (even narrowly) to De La Salle or ask De La Salle, which barely lost to national power New Jersey Don Bosco Prep.

Give some props to the Terriers for schedule top competition and not jv teams like the Mentone Wildcats.Yes they have lost but the have been close. Everyone always bashes Walker but he has the GUTS to schedule Good Teams. Mentone fans bash him but look at the JOKE of teams the Mentone Wildcats play. Props to them for working the rankings.

Upland would smoke Redlands and REV.

Yeah, Upland and the Baseline are so tough, then come playoff time they go 0-3. I don't know if the CIF can put them in any lower a division now. Any further and they'll be playing against Boron or Arrowhead Christian.

Concerning Redlands and their tough scedule. Believe me, it wasn't always that way. One particular time Walker tried to schedule Big Bear. Oberjuerge wrote about it and Walker wouldn't talk to him the rest of the season. Walker has a nice program but results-wise, he always comes up short. Redlands has very successful youth programs and Walker has had modest success in the playoffs annually.

That was then this is now. Upland it looks like back to 05 season has not fair very well in the playoffs, and the teams you play cupcakes. my point is any coach can work the rankings just like Mentone is doing now. The bottom line the Terriers are scheduling tough competition and Mentone has play soft JV teams.

By the way it is Mentone Not REV. The school is in Mentone.

Its ok, just because REDLANDS East Valley has a far better coach and better kids doesn't mean you have to cry about it. North is a 2 time cif champ, Dominguez was a city section contendor when we scheduled them, and San G wouldnt stop talking crap until we stomped on them like we will stomp on RHS too. And at the end of the day, REV players are starting QB's (Fouch) and RB's (Polk) for Washington while RHS players go to chaffey or valley....O and REV is located on Redlands City Property making it Redlands. You morons probably are the ones who voted for BUSH! The only area team I give props too are Centennial, and Miller for being competitive year in and out....Goodnight and I hope you wash that bitterness out of your mouths....

Upland wouldn't last with REV but would destroy Redlands for sure.

If you live in Redlands why do you bash the kids that go and live in the city like you do or do you live in mentone or Highland or San G. So if you dont like Redlands have you thought about moving to North soft league or Dominquez a joke of a team. Why do you bash the high school in which you live. I might be wrong Mentone but you probably dont live in Redlands. By the way Fouch is playing because the guy ahead of him is hurt and was better than Fouch. He probably would only see garbage time. As for Polk he is hurt because he is playing with the big boys. He is not running through IKE or RIALTO or Fontana players. Upland your league and the playoff teams you play CUPCAKES!

Oh by the way Upland, Mentone lost a CBL title for using a transfer that was not eligible for competition. I guess if your not cheating your not trying!!!!
