Criminal displacement

| | Comments (4) |

Redlands Police Chief Jim Bueermann's latest comments about crime are triggering a wink or two around San Bernardino. While applauding the effectiveness of Operation Phoenix in reducing crime in San Bernardino - per this week's FBI report showing a 19.6 percent drop in violent crime in 2006 - Bueermann suggested that the bad guys are being displaced to his city among others. In Redlands, violent crime rose 22 percent in 2006. If nothing else, this underscores what many have argued all along - the need for a regional approach to crime, and especially gang, prevention. Bueermann has been at the front end of that discussion. Expect him and his counterparts in Fontana and Colton - where violent crime also rose - to push the issue even harder.

Let's ask the hard question. Did San Bernardino's crime really go down or did they do a good job of reclassifying crimes? The one crime thats up are murders. After all, what do you do with the bodies?

Let us all feel sorry for our Chief and all his officers. The type of crime statistic reporting has to be skewed to make the Mayor's Op Phoney look like it is the next best thing to sliced bread. How can we go from having a reported 6% increase in crime over last year(reported by The Sun in July) to the figure the Mayor would like the City voters to believe as a 19% decrease. Why would the frustrated officers resort to wearing the 187 Code T shirts this very month that the "decrease" was overstated. if you keep a tab or scoreboard of the reported murders in our City, you know last year's record will be past. In July, in the same paper that we were reported to have a 6% increase in crime, it was reported in that same edition that Rialto had a 6% DECREASE. Railto attributed some of that to the FOUR parolee and probation sweeps(yes, they called them SWEEPS) that are carried out each year in Rialto. You do not see that Mayor doing what Valles and Morris in trying to interfere with the crime reducing SWEEPS.
Can anyone give a good reason why this Mayor sides with the criminals and not the citizens and their children, their Moms, and Grandmoms? I cannot see why does not respect those who put him in office. Thank God my conscience is clear about him.

The latest UCRs are available now. As previously stated and erroneously disputed elsewhere in this blog, they indicate an overall DECREASE in San Bernardino's crime.
The Sun reported as much in today's edition.
The current UCR data and that of prior years is freely available from the San Bernardino Police website.
Why not accept this reality, as reported to the FBI, and congratulate our Mayor Morris, Chief Billdt, and the rank & file officers of San Bernardino's finest for a job well done?
I'm sure your local SBPD Substation would appreciate a quick "Atta Boy!" note of appreciation, donation of stuffed animals for the officers to console distraught youngsters with, or ???
There are many ways to alter statistics, but this raw data, supplied to the FBI is clear: OVERALL, CRIME IS _DOWN_ IN SAN BERNARDINO THIS UCR REPORTING PERIOD!
Let's have a community picnic!
Let's CELEBRATE!
This is GOOD NEWS!

My point entered previously is verified by some who eat up blog space in an effort to mislead you, or give you no chance to hear good common sense. The citizens are asked to believe that the FBI information is accurate. Look at the headlines and at the stories buried in page three or four in the local sections. Stories about murders that are on track to exceed last year.
Do not believe the Mush about teddy bears We have already given so much of our tax money for giveaways and to provide the Morris camp money to squirrel away a hidden candidate to come out of hiding to destroy our city even more. These bloggers who are the rubber stamps of the present administration do not have a clue about what is going on in our City. All they adhere to are the memories of the summer of 67 and the free love garbage. These skewed blogs favoring the Mayor's hippie type policies are the direct result of liberals feeling guilty about not ever having done anything to help the poor people in the past. They now feel they have to use our taxdollars to soothe their consciousness.
By the way, who is in charge of providing the crime classifications to the FBI. Could it be someone who works for the Mayor? hmmm? the answer is YES
