Suspect has different name, story stays roughly same
Reports are now emerging that Jaranard Thomas, 32, is actually known as Chris Wiggins and has a warrant for his arrest for selling crack cocaine in Mississippi.
It looks more certain than ever now that Thomas/Wiggins will be charged in the death of Officer Sergio Carrera Jr., 29.
San Bernardino Sheriffs have already given a hint as to what the rationale will be - that Thomas/Wiggins actions led to the struggle which led to the discharge of the bullet that killed Carrera.
In a jailhouse interview reported by the Press Enterprise, Thomas/Wiggins says he was defending himself from Taser shocks and had no idea how a gunshot killed an officer. He also asks, rhetorically, how he could be alive if he killed an officer in front of a team of other officers.

I can not use my name beause the folks responsible for the drug sales on West Cascade are vengeful and retaliatory ask the resident that complained about a person with a gun a few weeks ago ask her what they did to her car. Ask the lady that one of the drug dealers pulled a gun on not more than a month ago. Drug dealers do not care who they hurt only how much money r they making, bottom line.
In this and many other communities accross the United States all the "Establishment" has to do is keep the drugs poppin in our hood and we will kill ourseleves and each other over a piece of escape.
Look what it is doing to our babies, the number of crack babies is overwhelming, the number of deaths related to drugs is wipeing out an entire generation.
Makes you wonder about the big picture. Here in these United States it is hard as heck to find a Cuban Cigar, not impossible, but hard. Crack can be foud on most corners in the hood in every state in the union.
Feel sorry for those that must self medicate not the Street Corner Pharmacist selling death abd destuction in many forms all for the sake of a little gold tinged with blood.
This man has runied his life cause believe the police gonna ge him, if not for this then something else, they have a very strong union. So now his kids have to visit in prison, the officer's babies have to visit him in the cementary. Two lives that touch so many others forever altered forever ruined.
Thanks for writing & keep the faith!
Thugs like to bluster and act like they know who is reporting them, but in reality they are just guessing. The police value the information you and other honest, decent residents provide ~ we are all the eyes & ears of the police. Their information is only as good as the information we provide them. The police would not jeopardize their relationship with the reporting public by ratting them out to the criminals ~ the police, you and the other reporting neighbors are all on the same team.
The criminals are running scared, vandalizing vehicles and generally acting like the thugs they are because they are runnig scared.
Don't let them intimidate you or slow you down. Don't let them shut you up!
The path to victory is just ahead.
Please, stay the course!
Remember, there are only a few of them, but there are MANY of US!
Good WILL prevail.
Keep up the good work ~ do not let anything slide ~ call in every license plate, every car booming music ~ every fence selling stolen property on the cheap ~ EVERYTHING!
The more you all call now, the less you will all have to call later ~ because there WILL be less crime!
Here's a tip: You and the other GOOD people in that bad area should/can start a "telephone tree" ~ all the good people participate ~ you give each other your telephone numbers and when one of you spots and reports something, the others are called and do the same ~ or, at least are made aware so they can take secret photos, make notes and do anything else possible to help the police in their efforts to clean up the area.
It is VERY helpful for you and your GOOD neighbors to make a list of the vehicles, descriptions of occupants and times they are in the area. Police can use this data to construct their assault on the crime in your area.
Where I live, crime was once rampant, drugs too, now, after doing the things listed above, we've long been enjoying peaceful crime-free neighborhood relations to such a high degree that our monthly neighborhood watch meetings were actually put on "pause" mode, ready to reactivate, if/when things ever get bad, again.
One day, this can be your story, too!
Keep the faith!
Hang in there!
Remember, if we do not hand together, we will surely hang alone.
I am a lifetime (45 year) Rialto resident. The police are their own gang here. They use force and scare tactics to intimidate the neighborhood. They also have an "us against them" attitude.
An anonymous tip for a $20 rock of crack is all it takes to break down your door?
What if I called in, anonymously, and reported members of the city council?
If I'm asleep at 6 am, and my front door is smashed in, don't I have a right to defend myself?
Cop/crook, crook/cop. When awoken from a sound sleep, how can you tell?
And, for the record, I'm White, and have never used an illegal drug in my life.
I'm sorry the officer was killed, but I'm also sorry the man they arrested appears to have been 'set up' to take the blame.
Rialto PD Chief: Who really shot your officer? You know, but you won't say, right? Cops usually cover for each other, which is part of the problem here.
What we have to remember is that the police are human and just like the general population they r not perfect and yes corruption lives in their department just like anybody else. But can u imagne whar the streets would be like if there were no police.
I for one do not want to live next door to a person that is the bunt of a drive by. These idiots can't shoot straight, the bullet could hit me or one of my love ones. I don't want to live where my babies can witness drug sells live and in person.
I personally do not live on Cascade but I know some of the players in a game that only leads to death and destrution. Yes the community must come together to fight this cancer, but fear is deep in the hood. They will shoot u, your babies or anyone that they feel is a threat to them. Drug dealing is an ugly business and it is diffently not a viticmless crime, look at the jails, look at the cementaries.
This man they arrested is a fugitive from justice for selling crack, they (police) would not have been there had he not been a fugitive. My only regret is that they (police) found no drugs so what does they mean, mo crack, mo destuction and these coward ass dealers now think they have teflon.
Rialto Police have been investgated by the Fed's several time for civil right violations, but what would the streets be like if they were not there. If u r shot of your home invaded who u gonna call, the local drug dealer?
