Judith Valles:"I don't know where the letter was sent"
Just talked to former mayor Judith Valles and asked her if there was any truth to the suggestion that her letter attacking Joseph Turner on behalf of Rachel Clark was only sent to households with Hispanic surnames.
She said she didn't know, that she only wrote the letter at the request of people on Rachel Clark's campaign committee.
I asked Clark this morning, and she said she didn't know, that the letter was paid for by her committee but that Valles wrote AND sent it.
Amazingly, it looks like there could be something here. I didn't like asking this question, because I thought it was outrageous - almost beyond belief - that Clark or Valles would be part of some race-targeted campaign slime. That is supposed to be Turner's modus operandi.
I don't know yet what the truth is here, but neither Clark nor Valles would say that the letter was not targeted to Hispanic-surnamed households.
The letter, by the way, suggests Turner would turn the city clerk office into the "INS."

hmm? In this case it diffidently sounds like denying is lying.
With purpose.. knowingly and racially seeking and purposely mailing
by Spanish surname only - if found to be true..
Smacks of downright bigotry!
Bigotry, how outright sickening -
Just what our city needs...NOT!
Intentionally an ex-Mayor along with a City Clerk
and a supposed committee racially deciding and dividing
the entire citizenship of this City of San Bernardino..
against one another.
And, some wonder why and where gang bangers got the idea
to racially battle and kill one another and so often take the right to
life of the innocent.
It happens right here!
Bigotry is well and healthy and coming
right from leadership that claims perfection!
When hate, rage and or anger and with outright purpose
divisions openly start right at City Hall .. having a possible
beginning with
the leadership of the past or present Mayors .. to dare to ask
the gang bangers to get their act together????
And, some call the gang bangers fools and wonder
where their bigotry comes from..

As someone much wiser than me has already spoken of..
"You reap what you sow."
It is unfortunate that Rachel Clark would violate the oath she took to run a clean campaign and to refrain from race based campaigning.
It is even more unfortunate that she would deny or claim ignorance as to who received this mailer.
She is in charge of her campaign and do you expect anyone to really believe that she has no idea what mailers are being sent to what addresses?
For the record, I have received or learned of at least 10 accounts of this mailer and each one was sent to a household with an Hispanic surname.
Not one supporter of my campaign with a non-Hispanic surname has received this mailer.
How sad that Judith Smith um I mean Valles would pander to the Hispanic vote. Why would she ever do that she's never done that it in the past. Valles and "Mendoza" Clark are refusing to answer the question which translates to "yes, we did it." Imagine...Joe Turner sending out a mailer to only white households....
Seems to me that IF Penman had done something like this and said he didn't know where the campaign literature was sent, and his campaign had paid for it that this would be a lot BIGGER story.
I know that I didn't receive this flyer in the mail but I guess a plain old Johnson isn't who they want to target with their propaganda.
It seems like Turner is getting a bum deal with this supposed hate campaign.
I've looked into his past comments and it seems to me that he is against ILLEGAL immigration, and the money it costs to support ILLEGAL immigrants.
I was at a meeting last night where our Assemblyman Anthony Adams was speaking and he said that by law only emergency healthcare and education services HAVE to be provided to ILLEGAL immigrants. One lady in the audience was a naturalized citizen and she said that she had to sign a paper promising NOT to use social services like welfare when she became a citizen.
So if you immigrate LEGALLY you are not allowed to get welfare, but if you sneak into the country ILLEGALLY to can get social services paid for by our tax dollars?
Doesn't seem fair.....maybe there is something to what this Turner fellow is saying.
