Measure Z committee meets tomorrow
Is it an "oversight" or "audit" committee? That was the question for some time about the group of residents who comprised the Measure Z tax monitoring group.
Lately, the question has been when do we meet and what do we do?
Just talked to a member of that committee, which is headed by former Mayor Judith Valles, and they'll be meeting tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall for the first time in months.

regarding the Measure Z advisory commitee meeting with exMayor Valles.
Wow, what a meeting that must have been. It was probably the same as the the shenadigans Estrada, Brinker, Baxter, and Johson use to stall and impede progress to any citizen-taxpayer friendly proposal. Have you seen them bob and weave and throw out slogans that they feel makes them look like "thinkers"? About the only time you see them move is when they perform their synchronized performance act to oppose any sane or reasonable propsoal. Look at the way they threw a barrier to the City Attorney's request for more help for the permit and inspection process in our City. Another fine example of these Mayor's clones is the November 19th repeat performance, when they all woke up just in time at the council meeting to JUST SAY NO to the Parolee issue.
Do anyone think the question of where our 40 cops are was brought up? well, if Valles was in that meeting, "IT" has not frozen over yet.
As far as expanding Op/Pho to other locations, why send our hard earned money to a bunch of bad behaving people whose "CODE of HONOR" is to create an unsafe environment for our cops. they do this either directly or indirectly. They seem to be proud of the young thugs running around with guns. They are really ticked off when an accounting of these thugs is made by our FINEST.
It is extremely funny to see the new Op/Pho Tee shirts. All the hot dog and hamburger servers to these people our taxes feed should wear them as the Mayor uses our City personnel from all departments to shuck and shine for the oP/pho recipients.
I would ask the people of the Op. Phoenix some questions to see if this very expensive social program has been effective.. The intensification of ALL City resources have been in this small 20 block area for almost a year. I would hope that if this very expensive Operation Phoenix had worked, the answers to my questions could be answered by every head of household in that area.
As the saying goes, GIVE A MAN A FISH, YOU FEED HIM FOR ONE DAY; TEACH A MAN TO FISH, AND YOU FEED HIM FOR A LIFETIME.
1..Operation Phoenix residents, What have you been taught about defending your area from the murderous rampage that threatens to become one of the highest statistics this year for our City? This is compounded by the fact that the CITY has not hired a single officer to fill the Measure Z requirement, only few replacements for those who have retired or otherwise left the force.
2.. Another question is; How have you taught you to defend yourselves against the tide of gangsters, prostitutes, graffiti taggers, drug pushers, druggies, drug houses, burglars, sexual predators, home invasion crews, scam artists preying on seniors and youngsters alike, internet type scams, and other criminal activity? Why are the Mayor’s chosen favorite 4 amigos stalling the Parolee housing moratorium that top Council persons and the City Attorney have proposed to insure safe, neighborhoods, and also existing safe code compliant parolee homes? Are they still digging in their heels in the interest of “working Together against Jim, Wendy, Derry and all the taxpayers they represent? Do they stall even though it is in the best interest of their constituents?
3…Have you been taught in the last year: how, when, and who to report to, and ask for help in keeping up services such as your street lights, street sweeps, street repairs, graffiti hot lines, trash pickups, code violators who have no regard for property values around you, slum landlords, obnoxious loud music, late parties, and other basic services?
4…Who and when do you call for animal control, junk cars, flooding, and stopped up street gutters, and tree services,?
5…Have you been taught the importance and the reasons for not parking YOUR cars on lawns, the importance of keeping YOUR keeping YOUR grass trimmed and green, your City street curbs clean of litter and dead grass and weeds, why your broken windows and fences must be fixed by YOU, why YOU must paint over graffiti on YOUR walls, YOUR fences, YOUR garage doors, and Alleyways? Have you been taught why?
6…The Police SUPPRESSION in your Op/Phoenix has kept your children safe. Have you been taught how to keep your children safe between 7Pm and 11PM?
7…How many Neighborhood Watch groups are now ACTIVE within your area?
8…Do your children have designated kid friendly SAFE houses between your homes and their schools, stores, and community centers in case of any local emergency or trouble?
9…If you, the residents have been taught the answers to all these questions, then I commend the City resources that have been poured into that area for doing a good job.
If not, then the $100, 000 Dollars spent there EVERY MONTH, could have been going to the NON-PROFIT Churches and organizations in the entire City. The NORTH , the SOUTH, the EAST, and the WEST sides, not just a mere 20 blocks, and not just to put on a political SHOW.
10… Have any City LEADER given you a time line to hold a TOWN HALL meeting with you 90 or 120 days after the POLICE SUPPRESSION is pulled from your area to see how it’s going?
11..Why go into an area that prides itself in resisting any police officer presence? Why not go into those areas that the taxpayer-voters live in and of those who appreciate ANY SBPD Officers?
