Turner and police: A stong union

| | Comments (5) |

Joseph Turner has garnered roughly one-third of the absentee vote, which is heartening or dispiriting, depending on where you stand.

But even if he loses (which is likely), the legacy he may really leave is that shocking connection he made with the San Bernardino Police union, the only local institution that backed the controversial, anti-illegal immigration activist.

The fact that the union would align itself with Turner has soured those who hate Turner - and there are many - on the union. Objectively, it was surprising that the union would take up ranks with someone who was so controversial when no one else would.

Turner loves his police buddies. He came by the Sun a few days ago for an interview and was wearing one of those "San Bernardino Murder Capital" T-shirts that a local cop is selling for $10 a pop. Basically, everyone who wears these shirts is either in law enforcement or has close ties to it.

Here are the pics of Turner wearing the shirt:

As of 1 a.m., Turner had about one in three votes for city clerk in this year's election.

It's funny how the Sun newspaper continues to label Turner the "controversial anti-immigration activist". Here's a dose of reality for you: Turner is a courageous, foward-thinking individual who acts on behalf of many American citizens who are fed up with the government's failure to curve illegal immigration. Turner is the future of American leadership, and his capabilities will be proven in time, albeit, perhaps not here. San Bernardino failed to cease this opportunity to elect him to a position in city government and unfortunately his full potential will most likely be utilized elsewhere. The San Bernardino Police Officers' Association was absolutely correct to support the candidate with strong conservative values, even if it wasn't "politically correct" in this city. And for that, the SBPOA is also courageous for being the one entity to "step up to the plate."

I'm surprised that the San Bernardino Police union would back a well-known neo-Nazi for public office.

"Jim Thorpe" - get your facts straight! Joe Turner isn't a "neo-Nazi". He is an anti-illegal immigration activist.

What is the difference?

Neo-Nazism (literally new Nazism) is a post-World War II ideology and political movement seeking to revive Nazism

Illegal immigration refers to immigration across national borders in a way that violates the immigration laws of the destination country.

This continued name-calling is not only annoying - it can be dangerous. Look at what happened to a Penman supporter - threatening phone calls and an axe through their business. Then the hate crime directed at the Penmans.

This is a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion but when stupid people do stupid things it should be a crime.

GROW UP!

Robert Rogers, I sure hope you keep the bloggs going post election, love them and you!

I have to say that as the election went on I converted to a Joe Turner fan. He is smart, bold and cutting edge. Hey, it doesn't hurt that he is eye candy either.

We love you Joe!

I love the comments on this blog. What people forget is that we have to have new people with new ideas and progressive creativity. Who will replace the current generation and move our city forward? I for one have seen the goings on at city hall and known that people come and go in their career endeavors. We need to see those who have political aspirations continue to step up to the plate, get their names and faces know so we will be familiar with them when they decide to run for an elected position.
