A retired LAPD officer's take on no confidence votes

| | Comments (0) |

Here's an article that was published in March of this year by American Police Beat. I found out about the piece when the author, Ted Hunt, wrote me an email after reading The Sun's recent coverage of the San Bernardino Police Officers Association's recent vote of no confidence in SBPD Chief Michael Billdt.

The crux of Hunt's article is his finding that police unions who take the drastic step of a no confidence vote have multiple reasons for doing so, but concerns about any chief's leadership skills are always a part of the equation.

Hunt goes on to write that one chief - unnamed in the article - experienced a "great deal of personal anguish" after being the target of a no confidence vote but that chief became more introspective and maintained his leadership role.
