Sept. 11 remembered at Public Safety Academy

| | Comments (3) |

Public Safety Academy, a San Bernardino charter school for teens planning to pursue careers in law enforcement and firefighting, held a memorial ceremony this morning to memorialize the anniversary of the Sept.11 attacks.

Jack Brown of Stater Bros. was the official keynote speaker, but as soon as he stepped to the podium he gave credit to the cadets who spoke before his turn. Some of the teens - who would have been grade-school children when the hijacked planes hit the World Trade Center and Pentagon - shared their own reflections of Sept. 11, 2001.

Others read the words of New York City youths who were in middle school that morning.

The event concluded when four jets flew over the ceremony in the missing man formation, a military honor for the dead.

Kudos to the staff and students of this great school. This was the most impressive 9/11 ceremony to date that I have attended in the last 7 years.
