Talks on police chief could be postponed

| | Comments (3) |

Sources are telling Robert Rogers and myself that Police Chief Michael Billdt's scheduled talks with the City Council could be delayed.

Billdt was scheduled to meet with the City Council today behind closed doors. The council's agenda showed that in regards to Billdt, the council had simply scheduled a personnel-related discussion for the Police Chief.

The closed session part of today's meeting was set to begin at 1:30 p.m.

The police union has voted no confidence in Billdt and wants him gone. Billdt has said he wants to resolve the dispute with the city's officers and remain on duty as San Bernardino's top cop.

Postponing today's discussion could give Billdt more time to prepare for any questions that council may have about his leadership or disagreements within the department. Likewise, council members could have more time to hone their questions.

Here we go again. Chief Billdt and his power plays. He knows that the Police Officer's Association has called upon all of it's members to attend today's city council meeting. If Billdt postpones his "closed door" session with the city council he will have had time to prepare talking points that counter whaterver the assocation may bring up at the council meeting. This is classic politics and Billdt is an expert.

The POA has met behind closed doors with some council members and the Mayor, but they've also been publicly vocal when it comes to repeating the same concerns outside of City Hall. What's Chief Billdt's public response? Oh yeah, "I'm going to stay the course."

Mr.Mayor and City Council Members,
How much longer are you going to be manipulated by Chief Billdt? Chief Billdt is trying to manuever around the city council by saying the POA is exaggerating the current issues. Billdt is so incompetent that, as captain of a sinking ship, he's willing to "STAY THE COURSE."

Citizen's of San Bernardino,
Mayor Morris and his selected spokesholes obviously think you are too stupid to see past his stall tactics. Operation Phoenix, while a lofty goal, is mismanaged to the point of jeopardizing your children! Morris wants to take a wait and see attitude. Have their been any reported changes to the program? I haven't heard of any.

QUESTION TO THE MAYOR AND/OR CITY COUNCIL....Are you going to do anything about Billdt or not? If you're going to let him finish out his contract, then no more discussions are necessary. We can end this blog and focus on the future of deparment once Billdt leaves. I guess the same goes for Morris. We'll just wait, see how much more damage he can do and try to fix it when he's gone.

Billdt needs time to "prepare his responses" because the truth is so difficult to tell right?

Also nice stall tactic tonight by going into a 2 hour closed session before hearing any public comments by the large group that showed.

Just wonder who scheduled this closed session when they knew the council meeting would not be close to over when it was scheduled to start!

Did anybody see Goggin playing breakout on his blackberry while the council meeting was going on? Was he on "company time"? Sweet job!
