4th Ward contest starts to take shape ...

The first person to file a committee campaign statement for a possible run to replace Neil Derry as the 4th Ward's representative on the City Council is a a Mr. Fred Shorett.

I haven't met Shorett but I'm scheduled to meet him this afternoon to learn more about his background and why he's contemplating a run for City Council. Watch out for a more detailed posting in a few hours.

Derry will leave his council seat in December to join the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. He has suggested that the election to determine his successor be held in March by mail-in ballot.
