Derry to hire Kelley
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote Tuesday to approve incoming supervisor Neil Derry's hiring of current City Council colleague Chas Kelley.
Derry, who represents San Bernardino's 4th Ward (northeast neighborhoods) until December, is set to be sworn in as the county's 3rd District supervisor in December.
Kelley represents the city's 5th Ward (northwest neighborhoods). Derry and Kelley are both on the conservative-leaning side of the council.
Kelley's annual salary will be $125,135, including benefits if the board approves his hiring.

Congrats Chas! Guess you can quit your day job at Del Taco.
Tell Chuckles we're all really proud of him.
Councilman Chas Kelley will do a great job for Supervisor Derry. He's open, honest and incredibly hardworking.
By contrast, anonymous bloggers like "SB Watcher" are the cockroaches of the political world. They hide in the dark because they lack any public credibility should their real identities be revealed.
Chris - you are taking this WAY too seriously. Those of us who know Chas are aware of the situation - warts and all.
Two down.......
This position will give Chas the opportunity to not only focus more time to 5th Ward issues as our Councilman but also SB issues as a member of the Team of Councilmen/women. He will have the ear (and respect) of a County Official who also comes from SB and knows the issues that surround the city. This is really a win/win/win situation. Chas wins, 5th Ward wins and SB wins. Chas knows all to well it is so hard to soar with the eagles when surrounded by turkeys. Congrats Chas, you have worked hard and deserve this opportunity. BTW, what will you are doing in 2012?
Will Mr. Kelley have to recuse himself on votes at City Council regarding aggreements and or contracts with the city and the county of SanBernardino, since he is now employed by same?
reader bob,
who are you insinuating are the turkeys he left behind or is now not working with, if he is still at the dias and / or still involved with over in his ward and all the city business?
he has irritated a few at the dias and city hall/ field employees, and a few speakers at the public comments. r those the turkeys you are alluding to? U must be from the same ward . Any turkeys up there? he appears to ruffle a lot of feathers.
seems that he can't work with everyone, turkeys included.
