Money woes continue: Starwood to close SB call center

| | Comments (1) |

Starwood Resort Vacations is closing its call center at the Carousel Mall.

More than 200 employees worked at the call center, regional human resources director Laurel Roehl said. The call center's official shutdown date is set for Jan. 19.

Although most employees will not work there after today, all workers will receive pay until Jan. 19, she added.

Marion Cease, one of the employees who received the bad news, said he worked at Starwood for seven months after leaving the faltering real estate industry. He plans to find a part-time job and enroll at Cal Poly Pomona to study aeronautics.

"You've just got to keep positive," he said. "Everybody knows times are tough across the board."
