Arnett launches campaign Web site.
Special Election Joe Arnett has launched his own campaign Web site.
Of the remaining candidates, Fred Shorett said he plans to establish a Web presence and John Valdivia currently does not plan to create a Web site. That may change, of course, if he rakes in some campaign donations down the road.
I haven't been able to contact the only other candidate, Saman Saman, since the ballot list become official on Thursday afternoon. Saman has an Internet based business so it's a good bet he'll have one in the coming days. He may even have a Web site that I didn't find.
The four candidates are running to succeed Neil Derry as the 4th Ward's representative on the City Council. The official election date is March 17, but city officials plan to send mail-in ballots to voters that would be sent in before that day.

I would like to encourage everybody who reads this article to go to www.JoeArnett.com and take the poll on the homepage or leave 'public comments'. He really wants to hear people's opinions.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO JOE ARNETT: Just great, that is what we do not need, another poll. My message to Arnett is that if you don't no what going on in the 4th Ward then you should not be running for the Council Seat. That is not the kind of leadership needed on our City Council.
To Sam Bernardino:
At least he doesn't presume to know what his ward residents are thinking. That's the problem with most politicians: they think they're psychic and/or they couldn't care less about the wishes of their constituents.
He has his ideas, but he's not presuming anything without checking things out first. God forbid we get somebody into office who actually cares what the public thinks.
IMPORTANT REPLY TO SB – Sounds like you’re a know it all. Why aren’t you running, if you have all the answers? At least he is willing to engage the public is honest dialogue. Knowing what’s going on and wanting input from the neighborhood are quite different things. Obviously, Arnett wouldn’t be running if he were unfamiliar with the hornets nest of San Bernardino city politics.
If you are interested in change then Arnett sounds like the true voice for the people - willing to listen and work for you. His idea for technology jobs and biofuel generation may be long-term and difficult to accomplish, but there is no other candidate who is offering new ideas for long-term solutions to today’s difficult financial issues.
Morris and Penman on the same endorsement? That's confusing. Your right, I can’t believe it. In fact, I don’t believe it! So who’s the real puppet master and who benefits by voting for the endorsed candidate? It sounds good, but anyone who pays attention to SB city politics knows that these two individuals have not found common ground and someone’s ideas will suffer.
Arnett seems to bring independence and change to SB. Here's an independent voice, who is willing to work with all the different players AND seeking resident input to make the best decisions for our future. He is not someone who is already playing a game with the established politicians. When you play games someone always loses.
