Desjardins announces labor endorsement
Second Ward City Council candidate Jason Desjardins has announced the Central Labor Council has endorsed his campaign.
Desjardins is challenging incumbent Dennis Baxter. The election is scheduled to be held Nov. 3.

Dennis Baxter is a creep on wheels. That guy couldn't care less about what is best for San Bernardino. He would never get off of his duff to do what needs to be done. He's a bobble-head. I say we ought to give that other candidate a shot at it.
Yeah....we should give a special interest candidate who was running to save his business interests the councilseat. Desjardins is so concerned about what is going on in the city that he didn't attend city council meetings until his business interests were at risk. He really cares, not!
It doesn't matter to me how many council meetings DesJardins attended prior to running. If that is your barometer, than Baxter should never have been elected either. I care about what the candidate brings to the table and if all Baxter is going to be is guaranteed vote for the Mayor than he should not be the guy. The business interest is important to any business owner, and I am glad he is concerned about keeping his employees employed. Better that than all the absentee business and property owners who don't give a hoot about what goes on in this city. Bastante de Baxter.
Jason's business is already saved. Big deal...He doesn't have any further "special" interests. He wants to do right by the community.
So you're saying that it's alright for Morris to use his businesses for city interests, but because someone is running recently had a scrap with the city is running for council, they're worse? Please. Jason can't profit from that seat anymore. He'd have needed that seat months ago. He's just interested in straightening things out.
Very few residents of the 2nd ward even know that Baxter is our council representative. In the past 4 years that he has been in office I have never, ever seen him in our part of the ward. What has he done to improve the 2nd ward? Nothing! It is very frustrating when he is in a position to improve the city and he does nothing.

"He just wants to do right by the community". Okay, this is for the community that he lives in right now, right? (That he just moved to). So what has he done previously for this community? Why right now at this moment in time? What about the community that he used to live in, what did he do there? What is prompting this need to help now if he isn't a special interest candidate? I've yet to see anything that tells me what Mr. Desjardins supports besides "law and order", and who doesn't support that? I've heard that PD isn't fond of him. Why is that? He originally registered at his business address in the 1st Ward. Is he so desperate to run for ANY council seat that he didn't check the ward maps before registering?
What has Dennis ever done for the community he has lived in most of his life other than announce that Market Night is coming? It appears from speaking with Jason that the status quo will kill what is left of this city. He is right. It is the right moment in time RIGHT NOW, before what is left is handed over to parolees and homeless. PD isn't fond of him because he found the fiscal flaws in a bureaucratic-written business plan that happened to be from PD. Good for him. Stand up to POA, OMG! He is obviously not their golden boy, ie. not in their pockets.
I attended the town hall meeting held by Baxter. It was really a meeting orchestrated to make Mayor Morris look good.
When someone stated that he believed that building more low income housing in the Arden Guthrie area was a bad idea Morris quickly brought out the big guns (his EDA director)who gave a lengthy explanation that used up most of the time.
Baxter, as usual said/did nothing except patted his back at the end of meeting when he told everyone that he donated the public address system to the senior center.
I noticed that the city attorney Mr. Penman was sitting quietly in the audience, listening and taking notes. I wished he had spoken at the meeting because he would have given us straight answers. I am voting for Mr. Penman. As mayor he can make real change happen.
In the early 80's the city got involved with Arden Guthrie, giving incentives to first time home buyers who were supposed to live in the housing for at least a year. What really happened was low life's like Glenn Wennen and Jerry Martin bought like 20 of those quad apartments by scamming the city. How did this happen, Martin is good friends with Morris. They go to the same church, Morris had Martin involved with Operation Phoenix etc. Now Morris wants a repeat on Arden Guthrie? Why? So ling time friends like Martin can profit at the city's expense? The EDA director can say whatever he wants, it isn't going to change history or who scratches the Mayor's back.
