U-turn
Campaign statements showing candidates' economic development platforms are now posted on SB Now.
But because the posts had been saved within the system as drafts, they were posted as if published before the most recent issue on the ACORN scandal. Please make a U-Turn through SB Now to read candidates' statements and an introductory post.
Thanks.

The campaign statements are very interesting and unfortunately I think they are placed inappropriately in order for voters to review and comment on. Will you post the revised/final drafts? Where is Estrada's statement?
Esther Estrada just needs to write, "I promise not to change" and she'll have my vote. She's my ward's councilwoman and I am very, very pleased with her performance.
You got that right, she won't change because she has not made any significant changes in the ward that has really been a benefit for the citizens. And Estrada did not submit a statement for the economic development platform and for today's newspaper article (San Bernardino council candidates weigh in on vandalism - Sep. 21). People want action and progressive change in their wards. Estrada may not change, but I, my family, and neighbors will change and support the candidate that has been submitting statements, listening to everyday people and now stands up for a new change for the west side - Virginia Marquez.
SBVoter:
Clearly, you don't watch the city council meetings. Esther Estrada is a "different" sort of councilwoman. She's quiet and reserved until we need her. Then, there's no stopping her. Honestly, I've been watching her very closely in the past couple of years and let me tell you, she really cares.
She's always there at the meetings and always considers her vote very carefully. The other candidate will only be a bobble head for Morris (if he makes it & I hope to see that he does not). Esther listens to me when I have concerns. My neighborhood is an Esther Estrada neighborhood. We all know she cares about our opinions & we love her hard work. You must be the other candidate, stirring up rumors against Esther.
Drop it. She's dealing with issues you'd be crushed under at the city council meetings. Move to another ward...Heck, move to Tobin Brinker's ward and run against him.
Funny fact: about a year and a half ago (maybe longer), I jumped all over Esther for something on this very blog and guess what...She did not ignore my concerns at all. She answered EVERY LAST question I had and did not get an attitude with me about it. She simply explained where she was coming from and, as it turned out, she was scrapping for the children of this city: God bless her heart.
If you are Virginia, Click on my ID here and read, then decide if you still want to be Morris' little bobble head.
I'm not Virginia Marquez, but I am a supporter of her and on election day I with my family will be voting for her - that's 9 votes against Esther Estrada, a councilmember like you stated that has quietly and reservely sat in city council but only wakes up and tries to reach out when her reputation is in the line. People have tried to reach out to her but she is unattainable, unfortunately not everyone has a special bond like you have with Esther.
And if Esther is reading this, I'm sorry that you have lost our support.
I said that she acts when we want her to, not when her reputation is on the line. You arenot a very good reader, are you? No wonder you support the other candidate. You just don't understand. She was already ON the subject I jumped on her about. She was taking action before we even realized that we needed her. She is always there for us. You're probably related to the other candidate or a close friend of hers.
She's a lightweight. Esther Estrada deserves her position because she is on top of things. I don't want to insult the other candidate, but she won't be as tough as Esther is.
Maybe if SB VOTER posted their real name, Estrada could respond to your criticism or your issues. So Marquez, the carpet bagging, Pat Morris and Joe Baca bobblehead puppet, will get 9 votes. Good for her. She can't hold a candle to Estrada with her long-standing relationships that allow those who actually live there plenty of access. And money can't buy that election, thank God.
Esther Estrada has worked for the 1st ward and the city of San Bernardino with integrity, hardwork and concern for her constituents. She is experienced and knowledgeable. V. Marquez has no experienced has lived outside of the city for the past 30 years and does not know what she is talking about in her campaign statements. It is clear that she is a ringer to get Esther out of office and therefore change the vote on the city council. We won't have it! Vote Esther!
