It’s been nuts at the Sun, between going to Riverside for the epic REV win and watching Big Bear physically overwhelm Aquinas in the mountains – all while my alma mater Michigan decides to embarrass itself. Yeah, I’m not bitter or anything. But on to what really matters….

It’s been nuts at the Sun, between going to Riverside for the epic REV win and watching Big Bear physically overwhelm Aquinas in the mountains – all while my alma mater Michigan decides to embarrass itself. Yeah, I’m not bitter or anything. But on to what really matters.

As far as REV, I was impressed by two things – the composure of sophomore QB Tyler Shreve and the tenacity of the front seven on defense. As far as Shreve, he made your typical young mistakes – holding onto the ball too long in the pocket on two different occasions, one of which turned to a potentially fatal fumble – but he didn’t let that get the best of him. When the Wildcats needed him, he showed some brass cojones on that final drive, coolly leading REV to that final touchdown. Kurt Bruich thinks highly of him, and on first impression, I gotta agree. I also liked the quickness of the linebackers. North had some serious speed in the slot with James Calhoun, but the linebackers never allowed Calhoun to break the big one. Every time it looked like Calhoun had a hole, a REV defenders would fly in and take him down cleanly. I give those guys serious props and can’t wait until Colton next week.
