Rim back in business

The Rim of the World football team will be back home on Saturday to play its first football game since last week’s tragic Grass Valley and Slide fires caused Lake Arrowhead and the surrounding communities to evacuate and destroyed hundreds of homes.

The Scots, after having their game against Sultana canceled due to evacuation and smoke concerns, will host Apple Valley at 7 p.m. Saturday at Rim of the World HS. It will be an important game for the Scots, who are 0-1 in the Mojave River League, and the Sun Devils, who are 0-2 in league. But even more importantly, it will be another step in the healing process for the Rim community.

Have any thoughts on what Rim has been through? Let me hear them.

Some of the girls from the Rim Lady Scots Varsity Volleyball team traveled from distances as far as 450 miles away to have their first practice since the evacuation this past Monday, October 29th. They went on to play Apple Valley for a regulary scheduled game Monday evening in Apple Valley and won.

The girls have been practicing every day this week and will be traveling to Hesperia to have their next regularly scheduled game on Wednesday, October 31st, before they meet with Serrano on Friday to make up the game they missed during the evacuation.

The Lady Scots were leading the league at the time of evacuation.

    Karen,

Thanks for sharing that. It’s amazing what people have had to go through just to have some semblance of a routine and normalcy. Best of luck to the Lady Scots in the postseason.
