Miners nab Wooten

UTEP has been busy in the Inland Empire during this recruiting season, as the Miners got a verbal commitment from Carter quarterback Khalid Wooten in December.

Wooten, who will likely play defensive back at UTEP, led the Lions to playoff berths in consecutive seasons. The first-team all-Citrus Belt League pick ran for 751 yards and seven touchdowns and threw for 808 yards and another two touchdowns despite missing nearly three full games due to injury.

Wooten is one of two CBL players to commit to UTEP, coached by former Washington State head man Mike Price. Redlands East Valley defensive end/linebacker Josh Scott has almost verbally committed to the school.
