Three more for El Toro
Down to three outs
REV went scoreless again in the seventh, leaving themselves in a horrible position going into the final inning. The Wildcats got one on base when Eric Young was hit by a Zeigler pitch, but that was all they muster against the left, who has only given up three hits.
4-0 El Toro, one inning to go.
Two more for Toro
REV is up against it now, as an RBI single by Donohoe and a wild pitch plated two more El Toro runs. Both plays came via relief pitcher Jeremy Perez, who relieved Chatwood with one out after Chatwood issued a walk to Jensen.
Perez, a reliable late-inning left-hander for the Wildcats, induced a fly to right, but walked Fierro and gave up a single to Donohoe, which scored Jensen. The single was booted in left, allowing Fierro to go to third. That proved costly, as a high wild pitch allowed Fierro to score before REV got out of the inning.
4-0 El Toro going into the bottom of the sixth.
Nifty fielding for Chargers
No real change
Another opportunity lost for REV
Chatwood comes back firing
After giving up the two third-inning runs, Chatwood responded with his first 1-2-3 inning in the fourth. After getting Fierro to ground out, the senior fanned Donohoe and Andersen. Through four innings pitched, Chatwood has struck out seven.
2-0 El Toro going into the bottom of the fourth.
Quick 1-2-3
El Toro jumps on top
After Chatwood struck out his fifth batter, the Chargers lit him up for a couple of runs to take the lead. He walked Penprase and gave up a sharp single by Arenado to set up Barnhill, who hit a sharp-line drive single to right.
Barnhill’s single brought in Penprase and Arenado, with the second runner scoring when David Andriese bobbled the ball in right. Andriese was given an error on the play.
The last two batters were retired, but the damage was done. 2-0 El Toro going into the bottom of the third.
