Rialto pulls away in 2nd half to advance to regional final

Mary Williams proved to be unstoppable for Rialto’s girls basketball team on Saturday night.
The junior center had 17 of her game-high 25 points in the second half and added 19 rebounds as Rialto pulled away from North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake 76-60 in a CIF State Division II Southern Regional semifinal at Rialto High School.

Top-seeded Rialto (32-3) advances to the regional final on Saturday against second-seeded Ventura Buena. Rialto defeated Buena 55-53 in the CIF-SS Division 2AA championship game last week. This time, the game will be played at USC’s Galen Center. Game time is 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Rialto-Buena game will be the first of back-to-back games featuring area teams.
Following that game, at 4 p.m., the Summit boys will face San Diego Lincoln in the Division II Final. Summit downed Palos Verdes Peninsula 79-74 in another regional semifinal on Saturday.
One of the other games on Saturday at Galen Center is the Division III boys final, featuring La Canada and La Verne Lutheran at noon.
