Citrus Valley wins D6 softball title

Freshman Taylor Troost entered the game and struck out 10 of the 17 batters she faced, lifting top-seeded Citrus Valley to a 5-2 victory over Kern Valley in the Division 6 championship game at Deanna Manning Stadium on Friday.

Troost ented in the top of the third for Hayley Jaquess, who had been hit in the hand by a pitch in the bottom of the second. She didn’t allow a run, gave up only three hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Kern Valley had taken an early 2-0 lead in the second inning, but Citrus Valley took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the second. Ashlyn Morris’ bases-loaded, two-out, two-run single gave the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead. They added another run in the third and one in the fifth.
