How will CIF-SS Central Division look? My prediction

Here is my last prediction of a division. The Central Division is interesting in that it looks like the 4 seeds will come from 2 leagues. My guess is Paloma Valley will get the at-large over Valley View. If I’m wrong, then everything is changed.

Here we go:

Paloma Valley (7-3) at No. 1 Summit (9-1)
Arlington (6-4) at Chino (8-2)
Chaffey (5-5) at Rancho Verde (7-3)
La Quinta (4-6) at No. 4 Elsinore (7-3)
Desert Valley No. 3 team (don’t know who won tiebreaker) at No. 3 Kaiser (9-1)
Temescal Canyon (5-5) at Palm Springs (8-2)
Colony (6-4) at North (6-4)
Colton (3-7) at No. 2 Heritage (9-1)

How will CIF-SS Eastern Division look? My predictions

The Eastern Division is a very tough division to predict what the bracket will be, as there are three pretty strong leagues: Mountain Pass, Mojave River and San Andreas, and two relatively weak ones: Desert Sky and River Valley. There are also 3 at-large berths. If I got those wrong, then the whole bracket is probably wron. I don’t feel that confident in this one.

Here is my prediction for the Eastern Division bracket.

Apple Valley (4-6) at No. 1 Citrus Hill (10-0)
Rialto (5-5) at Burroughs (5-5)
Moreno Valley (8-2) at San Gorgonio (8-2)
Arroyo Valley (5-4) at No. 4 Oak Hills (9-1)
La Sierra (3-7) at No. 3 Serrano (10-0)
Barstow (7-3) at Beaumont (8-2)
Tahquitz (7-3) at Norte Vista (6-4)
San Jacinto (6-4) at No. 2 Carter (10-0)

Marcus Soward resigns at Miller

Miller football coach Marcus Soward announced his resignation on Friday night after the Rebels finished a 1-9 season. He had told the administration on Monday.

“I had no guarantee of a teaching job next year,” Soward said. “I have a 5-year-old son and I had to do what was best.”

Soward said he didn’t know if the poor season was a reason he was not guaranteed a teaching job for next year. He was 6-14 in two seasons at Miller after arriving from Arroyo Valley. Continue reading “Marcus Soward resigns at Miller” »

How/why Eisenhower beat Redlands

Here are some thoughts as to why Eisenhower beat Redlands 14-7 on Thursday, claiming a share of the Citrus Belt League title, Eisenhower’s first CBL title since 2002.

  1. Turnovers. Redlands turned the ball over 3 times, Eisenhower none. Redlands’ first turnover, when Jerrion Burton intercepted a Jimmy Walker pass in the first quarter, led to the first Eisenhower touchdown after Burton returned it to the Redlands 49. The third turnover was an interception by Niguel Lee of a Walker pass in the end zone in the third quarter. Eisenhower scored on the next drive to take the lead for good.
