Will Loma Linda Academy’s Demari Webb be the best player in the area?

Aquinas girls volleyball defeated Loma Linda Academy on Tuesday in four sets, denying Loma Linda Academy a chance at an Ambassador League title, and certainly deserved to win.

But I was also impressed with some of the players, including 5-foot-10 LLA freshman outside hitter Damari Webb.

Webb recorded an impressive 17 kills, and showed her prowess as a powerful hitter as well as an effective server.

The match was far from perfect for Webb, Mendoza said. Her timing was off at times. Many of her attempts went wide and/or long.

“But I try not to get too mad at her. She is a freshman,” Mendoza said. “I think in a couple of years, she’s going to be the best player in the Inland Empire.”

I don’t consider myself an accurate judge of developing girls volleyball talent, but I don’t find that statement to be too hard to believe.
