Football: Centennial and De La Salle warming up Open Division final

Kickoff is in about 20 minutes here at the Stub Hub Center and Centennial and De La Salle look loose and warm going through their pregame routines before they meet again in the CIF Open Division state bowl game.

The teams met in 2007, 2008 and 2012 and De La Salle has a 2-1 advantage. The Spartans won 48-28 two years ago and according to several Northern California prep scribes, they bring in their best offensive team yet.

Of course, the question is never if they can keep up offensively with the offensive juggernaut that is Centennial. It’s if Centennial can muster points against the De La Salle defense that has dominated Southern California teams save for last year’s loss to St. John Bosco.

Centennial will have the services of leading rusher JJ Taylor, who missed the previous three games recovering from an appendectomy. I’ve been told Centennial will rotate him and Sammonte Bonner at tailback the same way the Huskies have rotated Nate Ketteringham and Anthony Catalano at quarterback.

Either way, it’s always fun when these two meet so get ready for a wild game. You can follow our live chat right here.
