Gianni Olivas just scored on a 3-yard run with 2:01 left, putting Upland up 19-7 after the Highlanders missed the 2-point conversion. The Highlanders marched 78 yards on 10 plays, all on the ground, to get the score. So barring a miracle – and considering that the Los Osos offense hasn’t scored on Upland in 7-plus quarters, that’s exactly what it would take – Upland is set to win its first CIF crown since 2000.

Grizzlies stopped on first drive of 3rd
Los Osos got a couple first downs on its first drive of the second half, but a sack by Gianni Olivas on Blake Loncar left the Grizzlies in a 3rd-and-long situation which they could not convert.
Upland now has its first second-half possession with the game tied 7-7 and 8 minutes left in the third.
Halftime stats
This is what I got from the people actually keeping track of this stuff:
Upland – 6 first downs, 139 total yards
Josh Nunes – 7 for 17, 63 yards, 2 INTs
Davion Fleming – 8 rushes, 64 yards, 1 TDs
Gianni Olivas – 2 catches, 20 yards
Rancho Cucamonga – 7 first downs, 168 total yards
Greg Watson – 6 of 9, 74 yards; 4 carries, 21 yards, 1 TD
Charles Saseun – 2 carries, 49 yards, 1 TD
Irshad Stolden – 2 catches, 42 yards
Also, junior center Gary Berwick apparently broke his leg in the second quarter, which obviously puts him out of commission for the rest of the game. Rancho has already had a couple of high center snaps in his absence, so its something that bears watching in the second half.
