3 high school football results that stand out from Friday night

I don’t know all the details on these games, but there were some interesting results on Friday in games that were out of the spotlight a bit.

First, in the Mountain Valley League, Pacific upset previously undefeated Moreno Valley 23-18. What kind of an upset was this? calpreps.com predicted a 31-10 Moreno Valley win.
It had appeared like Vista Del Lago and Moreno Valley were the top 2 teams in the league. Now, it seems all we know for sure in the league is that Vista Del Lago is No. 1 and Banning is the last team. But Pacific’s win throws into doubt the other four teams.

The other two scores are interesting for the same reason: it’s those schools first-ever league win.
Indian Springs surprisingly routed Rialto 42-0 to win its first ever league game, in San Andreas League. And Adelanto defeated Granite Hills 20-13 in the Desert Sky, earning Adelanto its first-ever league win. Congratulations to those teams. May they be the first of many.

Indian Springs won’t play football on campus this year

Indian Springs is in its first season as a varsity football program, and unfortunately for the Coyotes, they will not be playing any games on campus.

Although Indian Springs knew its stadium would not be ready, it had planned to play one home game on a Saturday afternoon on campus September 14), and have other games played at San Gorgonio.

But with the school’s grass field struggling to take hold, the decision has been made to not play any games on campus this year. That might extend to the soccer season in the winter.

As a result, all 3 of Indian Springs’ “home games” will be played at San Gorgonio.

San Andreas League says no to Indian Springs High School

Indian Springs, the newest school in San Bernardino, was rejected for early admission into the San Andreas League on Wednesday.

The school which has only freshmen and sophomores this year and won’t have play a varsity sport until the fall of 2013, was asking the San Andreas League for admission next fall, a year before the new league alignment goes into effect in the fall of 2014.

In a meeting of San Andreas League principals and athletic directors, the league voted 6-0 to deny Indian Springs admission for next fall. As a result, unless Indian Springs can find another league to accept them, the school will have to play a freelance schedule for the 2013-14 school year.

Pacific Athletic Director Carmel Brand said there were several reasons why the league denied Indian Springs entry into the league.
