VIDEOS: Carter’s Lokeni Toailoa picks UCLA

Carter coach Alex Pierce talks before Lokeni’s commitment

It may be hard to see on the video, but Lokeni had 2 hats in the bag: one USC and one UCLA

Lokeni Toailoa talks about picking UCLA. He showed some maturity in not getting too tied to the coaching staff, because he knows one or more of those coaches might not be around in the fall of 2016.

Football recruiting Lokeni Toailoa, Stephen Carr, Leni Toailoa make verbal commitments

There were probably more than 100 people (family, friends, and fans) in attendance on Monday night for the event, which was put on by Ground Zero football, which trains many area football players and it was at Athletic Republic in Rancho Cucamonga, a training facility.

In the end, Carter’s Lokeni Toailoa and Great Oak Demetric Felton picked UCLA, Summit’s Stephen Carr picked USC and Carter’s Leni Toailoa chose San Jose State.

One player who wasn’t there was Summit’s Damian Alloway, who had originally said he also would make his commitment Monday, but then changed his mind. He not only didn’t make his commitment, but he chose not to attend.

San Gorgonio athlete Nate Meadors had a home visit from Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly.

Meadors, who played quarterback for the Spartans this season, is being recruited as a defensive back.
He entered 2014 without a single offer, but closed out the year with 14 offers, including Notre Dame, UCLA and Oregon.
Kelly was not the first coach that Meadors welcomed into his home. UCLA coach Jim Mora took a small trip to visit Meadors on Jan. 22.

He also played in the Inland Empire vs. Orange Country All-Star Game as an offensive player.
The Notre Dame football program seems to have its eye on San Bernardino County talent.
It was just last week that a member of the program has taken a visit to Carter High School to follow up with Lokeni Toailoa for the fifth time since offering him a scholarship.

Could Kyon Clark join Kenny Clark at UCLA?

While several high school athletes committed to colleges long ago, and others have been courted and are expected to make their decisions in the next week, there are other future college athletes who fall into different categories.
TX Body: One of those is Carter High nose guard Kyon Clark, who originally committed to Montana, but has since de-committed.

Kyon Clark

Carter coach Alex Pierce said that Clark changed his mind when Montana underwent a coaching chance as former coach Mick Delaney retired.
So, what’s next? Possibly UCLA, where Clark’s brother Kenny, the former Sun Defensive Player of the Year, was a standout sophomore defensive lineman last season.
According to rivals.com, Clark is scheduled to make a visit to UCLA this weekend although Pierce could not confirm that. Although there has been no official offer yet, UCLA is the only possibility out there for him other than Montana. Rivals has Clark listed as a three-star recruit.
“I think people are missing the boat on him,” Pierce said. “He’s been able to move really well with his weight. He’s really flexible. He can put his nose to his knee and he’s stronger than his brother at this age.”

San Gorgonio Spartans quarterback Nate Meadors received a scholarship offer from the UCLA Bruins football program Nov. 16.

It is his 10th offer during the 2014 football season.

“I have received an offer (from UCLA),” Meadors confirmed. “I am not committing anywhere, just yet though.”

The offer from the Bruins was not just any offer to Meadors.

“It is my dream school,” he explained. “It means a lot to receive the offer and that the hard work is paying off.”

Until today, UCLA had been one of two programs that Meadors had a strong interest in, along with Stanford University, despite not having an offer from either program.

Stanford appears off the radar for Meadors at this point in the recruiting process, but the offer from UCLA has really heated things up within the PAC-12 conference.

The Bruins join Cal, Washington, Arizona State and Washington State as teams within the conference that have made an offer to Meadors.

He is being recruited as an athlete by most schools that hope he could fill the void of several different positions depending on a team’s needs.

The offer from the Bruins comes just one day after he took his first official recruiting visit to Boise State University in Idaho. He returned to San Bernardino tonight from the visit and it was in the airport that he received the offer from UCLA.

Meadors will rejoin the Spartans as they prepare throughout the upcoming week for a second round playoff game against Riverside Poly on Friday.
