Melissa Pamer has covered Los Angeles Unified's South Bay and Harbor Area schools since joining the Daily Breeze in June 2008. She continues to marvel at the number of untold stories in the country's second-largest school district. She grew up outside Washington, D.C., and has lived in California (both Northern and Southern( since 2000. Toni Sciacqua is the managing editor at the Daily Breeze, where she has worked since 1998. Among other things, she's in charge of nagging reporters to update their blogs, but she helps them out by posting random tidbits from outside sources. TUSD Candidate Forums Kick Off Tonight

The first of several candidate forums featuring Torrance Unified School District Board of Education hopefuls is being held tonight at John Adams Elementary School.

Hosted by the Southeast Torrance Homeowners Association, the event will invite each candidate to discuss their goals and objectives and answer audience questions. (SETHA members will get priority in the Q&A portion.)

Aspiring first-time trustees Irmi Lake, Don Lee and G. Rick Marshall will all attend, along with incumbent Terry Ragins.

The event runs from 7-8:30 p.m., in the cafeteria at Adams, which is located at 2121 238th St., in Torrance.
