As a retired teacher from the PVPUSD who over a 37 year career, witnessed other proposed and real cuts to the district budget, this is a very difficult time for those directly impacted. Add to this the new proposal to create a charter school, you have some very anxious times for this district. Those proposing the Charter school need to do research on how PVPUSD is funded. It is a fact that the public portion of this district will be seriously impacted financially by the creation of a charter school. Add to this the current state budget crisis, there will be serious impacts to all students in this district.
Regardless of motive, the timing could not be worse!

I suggest these charter school advocates reassess how their concerns can be addressed and work within a great school system to solve them.
