Is teaching finances like teaching about sex?
Here's an interesting take on financial literacy. http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/19/is-teaching-financial-literacy-a-waste-of-time/. It's from a little ways back, but it makes me wonder if financial education should be required -- just like sex education? Do we all need to do our financial homework, or is it a waste of time?
With all the bad news, maybe it's time for at least learning how to be critical about who is selling us what, so we don't learn the hard way -- like many have in recent months.
