Rolling with Roa

| | Comments (0) |
Well, my mother told my father, just before hmmm, I was born, "I got a boy child's comin, He's gonna be, he's gonna be a rollin stone, Sure 'nough, he's a rollin stone Sure 'nough, he's a rollin stone"

I was thinking about this Muddy Waters song as photog Raul Roa and I rolled from an accident in Baldwin Park to a bomb scare in Industry this a.m.

The accident involved a truck overturning on the transition from the Northbound 605 to the Eastbound 10. The owner operator spilled a load of pipe, probably lost his truck, and generally caused a nasty traffic jam on getaway day. I really felt for the guy. Fortunately, the Chippies (slang for CHP) took pity on him too and laid off writing a ticket in the incident.

Almost as soon as we left the scene, my phone beeped with an email from a tipster wanting to know what was going on at Athens in Industry. Turns out a worker at the garbage plant found a rocket propelled grenade in a load of garbage. He brought the grenade to his boss and the next thing you know the Sheriff's on the way.
There's plenty of unanswered questions about the RPG. How did it get there? Where was it made? Russia? China? You get the picture.
Anyway the deputies say its nothing without a RPG launcher. No one found one of those in the trash, so all's well that ends well. Right?
So Raul got his pics, his video, most of its up on line, the rest will be posted tonight and tomorrow.
I was sort of left with the words of a rather beefy Athens security guard ringing in my head, instead of Muddy.
He simply told us there was nothing to see and we should roll on out of there.
