More crime less sports

Fights among fans spilled out of local prep sports venues and onto the infield at Santa Anita, our Brian Day is reporting in Tuesday's newspaper.
Here's a peek at the story:

ARCADIA — One person was arrested and several people received minor injuries after large fight broke out Saturday at the Santa Anita Park race track, officials said.
The fight was reported about 5 p.m. at the park, 285 W. Huntington Drive, as the race track was hosting the KROQ Microbrew Festival, Arcadia police said.
“By the end of the afternoon, things got out of hand,” said Sgt. Stephen Fallavollita.cq
The cause of the disturbance was not immediately clear.
Officers entered the park and quickly made an arrest, Fallavollita said.
The next KROQ Microbrew Festival event at Santa Anita Park was scheduled for California Cup Day on Nov. 3, however the park announced on its Web site Sunday that the festival would be cancelled.
According to the park’s written statement, the event is being cancelled in order to free up infield space for the California Cup.

...

... Most interesting about the story is Santa Anita's reaction....they pull the beer fest, but claim it's because they need more space on the infield.
Been to Santa Anita lately???? It doesn't look like they are suffering any lack of space problems.
I must say I do love those giveaways ..especially the head cracking beer mugs!

Too much beer, projectiles and lots of youngsters ready to spread their feathers...quite the mix!
