On guard for Hollywood
At least an unidentified Pasadena police detective had something to do Monday night besides knoshing from the catering truck at a movie shoot near Grand and Madeline Drive.
Brian Day reports:
PASADENA -- Police sought a man Monday who allegedly crashed his car into a parked car in the presence of a police detective, then refused orders to stop and fled the scene, officials said.
The incident was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Grand Avenue at Madeline Drive, said Pasadena police Lt. Randell Taylor.
A uniformed detective was working at the intersection where a camera crew was filming ...
... when the suspect, described as a man in his 60s, approached westbound on Madeline Drive and allegedly sideswiped a parked car, said Taylor. The detective was not identified. When the officer attempted to get the driver to stop, the man slowed down, Taylor said. As the detective neared the car's window and began to knock on it, the man drove away, he said. Police were not immediately able to locate the man, but were able to copy down the license plate number of the suspect's light blue, 4-door Volvo, said Taylor. Police refused to release the license plate number. Taylor said the suspect will face likely charges of misdemeanor hit-and-run, as well as a misdemeanor count of disobeying the order of a police officer.Lt. Randell Taylor didn't think it was important to give out the license plate number and we weren't fast enough to get it off the scanner.
