Pico Rivera memorial
Officials are talking very little about the stabbing incident that resulted in Jackie VIllanueva's death early Friday a.m.
Reporter Caroline An went out to the crime scene Saturday and filed this report. Photg Keith Durflinger captured a nice shot of the memorial.

Officials rarely speak of crime scenes in Pico Rivera. I saw a horrible scene of a gang related shooting in Old Pico in September and the Daily Whittier News was not informed. Also on December 3, 2007 a chase possibly of a stolen car or drunk driver knocked down an electrical pole around 5 a.m. on Rosemead and Mines and it was not reported in the news. City Council and the Police Department do not want the residents to know how high the crimes are in Pico Rivera as they claim the crime is low.

People say the problem is generational old gang members dictating or mentoring to crazier younger ones.
The city seems to think the problem is solved if they just get the young ones.
How about the ones that are in their 40's and 50's
still selling and using drugs? What examples.
What kind of community do you expect when the people that respresent u are bad news.
Official rarely speak of crimes in Pico Rivera. I grew up in the city and my parents have lived in the city for 40yrs. We here about crimes all the time. The city should have more activities (baseball, football, etc..)and should have police officers participate. I believe the city would probably have less crimes and have more teenagers educate themself.
