We're Number One (NOT)

0759195428_rowsonbank509[1].jpgAccording to the FBI and some published reports, Los Angeles no longer holds the heavyweight title as Bank Robbery Capitol of the United States.

Ladies and Gentleman meet the new champion: Atlanta, Georgia.

The key lines from this story as told by Atlanta's Channel 11 (11Alive):

There were 350 bank robberies in the Atlanta division of the FBI from October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007. FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett said, “That surpasses every other division in the nation for bank robberies.”

The FBI says it is part of a disturbing trend for Atlanta banks. In fiscal year 2005, there were 208 bank robberies. In fiscal year 2006, there were 249 bank robberies. This past fiscal year 2007 far surpassed last year’s numbers by 101 bank robberies.

Congrats to Atlanta.

It's refreshing the SGV Tribune has a "Crime' section
that deals with national events besides riding a bike on a train.
