“How about catching some of these murderers? Damn!”

I got this message today from an anonymous caller in response to the BB gun story that ran in today’s paper:

“Hello. I was just reading your article in the paper, ‘Pair arrested in BB gun shootings, Baldwin Park brothers face charges.’ All these people get murdered in they homes, in they driveways and the police arrested somebody with a BB gun? How about catching some of these murderers? Damn!”

  5. It’s almost funny to hear that murders have been committed with BBguns. Law abiding citizens are tired of hearing, on daily basis, of people been murdered without reason. Everybody knows that the major problem in LA is gang-related murders. When my son came out of the Army, after six years, as a Ranger, serving in the Dessert Storm war, found a job at a medical equipment company. One morning while making a delivery in Compton, a teenager came from behind, put a gun on my son’s head while demanding his wallet. My son threw his wallet on the floor, the guy picked it up, put his gun on my son’s head again, while saying:”Good bye.” At the very same moment some people stood by watching what was going on, and I guessed the guy got scared and ran away. On that day God saved my son from being one more statistic in the coroner’s list. I think that the moment has come for the authorities to take extreme radical measures to exterminate gangs in LA. Since some of the gangs have more than 20,000 members, more members than some police departments, the authorities should activate the National Guard, which in a combined effort with the local law enforcement agencies, should search every single house in gang infested areas, identify gang members, encarcerate them, confiscate their weapons, and thus exterminate the gang culture. Enough is enough, too many innocent people are killed on daily basis, by those ruthless assasins. No gang programs that have been implemented so far had worked. WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?

  6. GANGS WEREN’T FORMED OVER NIGHT AND THEYRE NOT GOING TO DISAPPEAR OVERNIGHT. ITS LIFE IN LA THEY’RE BEEN AROUND FOREVER AND THEYRE NOT GOING TO GO ANYWHERE GET USED TO IT

  7. Yea! Let’s all throw our arms up in dispair and declare unconditional surrender! Now that’s a plan I’m sure the French can appreciate!

Pressure keeps gang members inactive. Pressure from cops stopping them, questioning them, searching them, identifying them, arresting them – AND THE DA PROSECUTING THEM.

Programs could intervene if they could catch kids when the feel unwanted or unimportant (think single mother, latch key kid, dad in prison, hypes, tweekers, crack whores living next door). Maybe the programs can focus on this period and send those at risk youth to boarding school or something – pre-military/civil service academy.

Finally . . . “Idiots come from somewhere”. The people doing the shooting, stabbing, running-over-with-a-vehicle’ing, are the daughters, sons, cousins, dads, aunts, uncles, nephews, grand children, of people who live in the dangerous communities they pilliage. I propose a user fee. Use the criminal justice system too many times because you’ve raised idiots, and you no longer benefit from Prop 13 cap on your property tax. Raise an idiot, and you are dumped into the next higher tax bracket. If you want never to find yourself in that scenario, then you find one way or another to get your child into your local “at-risk-youth” program. If you can’t get him/her into the program, or cant make him/her say there, then you will be charged the appropriate “frequent flyer” fee for over use of the criminal justice system.
